MELBOURNE, 21 June 2022 -Australian Technology company, Applied EV has teamed up with Oxbotica to deploy the first fully autonomous cabinless, commercial on-road vehicle.

Oxbotica software drove the Applied EV software-defined vehicle with no onboard driver through the streets of Oxford, in the UK.

The Applied EV vehicle, called Blanc Robot, was developed and built in Australia. It runs entirely on software where all the functions are digitised with no mechanical actuators. It is fully connected and can be configured for specific applications, such as delivery or industrial logistics. The Blanc Robots carry an exclusive centralised software and control system, Applied EV's core technology named Digital Backbone that can be integrated into traditional cars & trucks to commercialise Autonomous transport applications.

"The Blanc Robot, a zero-occupancy, all-electric, fully autonomous vehicle, is exactly the new type of innovation that will form the mainstay of the transportation industry for decades to come. Our partnership with Applied EV was fundamental in enabling autonomous technology for this on-road milestone. Oxbotica is changing the way people and goods move, and the Applied EV's software-defined vehicle is key to this journey." says Paul Newman, Founder and CTO of Oxbotica.

Julian Broadbent, Founder & CEO of Applied EV, says the successful collaboration with Oxbotica accelerates the commercialisation and application of AV technology.

"This exciting development positions Australian developed innovations at the heart of the sector and the forefront of delivering AV technology on the streets of Europe. We're excited to see how this world-class product will continue to support the market needs," says Broadbent. "This is a historic moment for the automotive transportation industry."

Founded in 2015, Applied EV is the missing link in the $240 billion autonomous vehicle industry by creating the software and hardware that revolutionises transport and how we think about autonomous vehicles.

In addition to the Oxbotica partnership, the Australian company is developing solutions based on its Backbone and Blanc Robot technologies in Asia and the US.
